In 1919 Sidney and Percy Kirk converted an old sewing machine into a lens cutter and so began a whirlwind of optical innovation, from inventing motex safety lenses to introducing motorcycle couriers for faster deliveries. Almost a century later, Jason Kirk rediscovered their frames in his father’s practice and was moved and inspired in equal measure. Together with his partner Karen Kirk, they created Kirk Originals and, in so doing,
foreswore to uphold Sidney and Percy’s legacy of innovation and originality.

Today, Kirk Originals hand-crafted frames continue to illuminate the modern world of eyewear, respecting their unique optical heritage.
